This Summer's Exhibitions この夏の展覧会

I've had two group exhibitions for a few months. One of them was the Technical Instructors Exhibition in August at Art Students League of New York. It's a top picture. I exhibited one sculpture and two oil paintings.  And one more exhibition is still going on 41st Anniversary Exhibition - Japanese Artists Association of New York at Tenri Gallery in New York City. There is my print, title is Thread on Wood, etching in the Exhibition.  It's until September 6 (Monday) . 久し振りにブログを書いてます。数年前はあんなにまめに書いていたのに、最近はサボってばかりです。

8月はテクニカル・インストラクターズ展がアートスチューデンツリーグでありました。その時は、彫刻1点、油彩が2点出展しまた。上の写真がそうです。
それから今月は、第41回JAANY-ｼﾞｬﾊﾟﾆｰｽﾞ･ｱｰﾃｨｽﾂ･ｱｿｼｴｰｼｮﾝ展が天理ギャラリーで現在開催中です。9月16日月曜日までです。お時間あればお立ち寄り下さい。

Waves…The Tides of Time
This multi-media gallery exhibit expresses the continuous flow of humanity’s ups and downs. The perpetual change of political trends. The tidal flow of humanity’s transformation throughout the ages. People change and progress. People change and regress. However, this endless wave has inspired revolutionary art forms for centuries. This show represents the fluidity, force, and power of art and its ageless movement through time.

The girl's portrait. 少女の肖像画

I've been continuing to work on the portrait. Painting children is difficult. Their anatomy is different than adults' anatomy, especially bone structure of the face. As I work on the painting I found the little girl beginning to look like an adult.
I fixed her eyes, forehead and skin tone today. Here is the picture. I hope to finish the painting soon.
続けて少女の絵を描いています。子供を描くって、こんなに難しいと思わなかった。大人と体格、解剖学的にも可なり違うから、だんだん大人の顔になってきてしまって...。昨日と今日は、目、オデコと肌の色をなおした。もうすぐ描き終わるといいんだけど。

A girl I met in Central park.セントラルパークの少女

I started working a new painting yesterday of a cute girl that I met in Central park. I worked on it today as well. I just sat down on the couch this afternoon to take a break but fell asleep and took a long nap. I don't know how long one can sleep and still call it a "nap". I worked on the portrait all day yesterday, that's why I might be tired. I did a lot of work on the first day and feel satisfied with what I did. Before washing my brushes, I took a picture of the portrait as it is after the second day of work.
昨日から新しい肖像画を描き始めた。セントラルパークで会ったこの少女、私がスケッチをしている傍に来て話しかけてきた。この子の母親に許可を得てスケッチして、写真も撮らせてもらった。 昨日は丸一日製作していたせいか、今日描いてる途中で休憩を取ってソファに座っていていつの間にか寝ていた。昨日頑張り過ぎたから、ちょっと長めの昼寝だった。この肖像画は、描き始めて2日目の写真です。

I finished painting,"Lemon". I didn't have time to paint for a few months. Click here and you can see how I started painting.
Wow! it was August 28!
I was making some editions of "Scissors" prints and helping to cast someone's sculptures.
Title is "Lemon" or "Peeling Lemon" What do you think?
ここ数ヶ月絵の制作が出来ませんでした。やっと”レモン"を描き上げました。ココクリックして見て下さい。この作品の描き始めがみれます。ワァー8月28日に始めたんだ...。

Back to work...

I took a rest and continued painting this piece today. There is some white cloth behind lemon but I think it doesn't need it.
しばらく休みを取ってまた製作を開始。レモンの後方に白い布を置いているんですが、今の時点ではそれを省いてもいいかと思っているんです。

Another still life painting

I didn't finish the painting that is Wedgwood teacup's one. I want to take a rest for my eyes. And I'll continue to paint it soon. I was planning not to do anything today but I started painting a new still life painting. I made a simple set up in this time. I really need take a break.
ウェッジウッドのティーカップの油彩は、まだ描き終わってませんが、少し目を休めたいと思って、今日は休日にするつもりが、新しい絵を描き始めました。今回はシンプルな静物画にしました。

Almost finish...

I'm always paint with natural light. I've started painting from late afternoon to evening for a few days. It was getting dark outside so that the painting became darker.
I'm going to work on it earlier tomorrow.
いつも自然光で絵を描いているんですが、この数日、絵を描き始めるのが遅く夕方まで描き続けているので、だんだんペインティングが全体的に暗くなってしまった。明日は早目に描き始めよう。

Continuing working on the painting

I couldn't start working earlier but I painted a lot today.
今日は始めた時間が遅かったけどずい分描けたと思う。

Started painting...

I got some fruit in this morning and set up still life since then. I started painting around two o'clock. It takes time to set up for decided composition and color.
I haven't been painting for almost ten months. I'm a kind of miss it.
I'm continuing working on it tomorrow too.
So I'm going to post new picture of the painting.
朝フルーツを買いに行って、それから静物画のセットが決めるまで可なり時間が掛かり午後2時頃やっと描き始めました。明日も続けて描くので明日またブログに写真を載せられると思います。

It's different from the last posted picture, isn't it. The pink tent seems like one from a circus, and I think it makes the painting exciting and fun.

Now, the title is "l'isle enchante".

サーカスのようなピンクテントがこの絵を楽しいものにしてくれているでしょう？最終的にタイトルは、フランス語で“魅力する島”にしました。

It seems some parts of the painting worked a little too much. But I think it needs more work.

ちょっと描き過ぎかな？と思う部分がありますが、もう少し描いたら終わりです。

New project

I used another my lithograph (bottom picture, title: Central Park) to paint.
I want to work it more.
I think I started working on a new etching now so I need something fun such as this kind of painting.
